Dr. Jaramillo was desperate to help and wanted to create something similar or better than breast milk, in terms of nutrition. He studied the composition of breast milk and broke it down to the basics so that he could get a fresh perspective. He began by testing what soup ingredients could be easily digested by newborn babies. He discovered that infants could actually digest nutrients from whole foods if prepared in a particular way. Hence, optimally fulfilling the nutrient needs of a growing baby.
Dr. Jaramillo started feeding many of them the soup, that includes real foods, and quickly saw the malnourishment rate and the number of children in hospitals plummet. He also saw an upward swing in cognitive development and even observed dramatic improvements in children suffering from mental retardation. Jaramillo Soup Recipe
- 80 to 100 gms of Chicken
- Trout or other healthy fish
- Round Beef
- 3 to 4 beans
- 1 piece of carrot
- 1 slice of pumpkin
- 3 to 4 spinach leaves
- ¾ sweet plantain
- 1 leaf of green or purple cabbage
- 2 unpeeled potatoes
- 1 slice of chayote
- 1 piece of deveined celery
- 1 piece of broccoli
- 1 leaf of lettuce
- 1 leaf of chard
You may also add
- 1 piece of cucumber
- 1 piece of beet
- 1 piece of cassava
- 1 slice of papaya
- 1 slice of mango
- ½ guava
(1 tablespoon of each in 7 cups of water)
- Dries green beans
- Brown Rice
You may also add Quinoa or Corn.
Step 1: Put the previously soaked grains in a pressure cooker until tender.
Step 2: Add the proteins and vegetables. Check if more water is needed so the soup doesn’t dry up. Allow boiling for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Combine ingredients, including fruits, in the blender. Blend well until thickened.
Step 4: Once blended, immediately, put it into the fridge for cooling.
- The above-mentioned quantity is only enough for 24 hours. You may multiply the ingredients by the number of days so that you may get at least 6 days of healthy soup if stored and refrigerated properly.
- If the soup is left out of the fridge to cool down, it might provoke stomach aches if considering feeding it in the afternoon or night.
- It should be fed using a feeding bottle. Cut a cross in the tip with a knife so that it is big enough for the soup to flow.
- If you want to sweeten the soup so that your baby likes it more, you may add three tablespoons of natural pure organic honey.
* As your baby starts growing, vegetables and protein portions should be increased. Vegetables should be included as instructed in Dr. Jaramillo’s book.
